    Director of Case Management

    Detroit, Michigan Permanent Day Shift

    The Opportunity

Some leadership roles extend a career. This one defines it. A high-volume, capital-backed acute care system in southeast Michigan is searching for a Director of Case Management — a clinician-leader who can own the full scope of utilization management, care coordination, transition planning, and payer strategy across a seven-day-a-week department. This is not a caretaker position. The person who takes this role will have real accountability at the executive level and real opportunity to shape what comes next on their career trajectory.

One opening is available. The schedule is full-time with department coverage requirements spanning seven days a week. This is a permanent, direct-hire placement — no travel, no contract, no uncertainty about where you're landing. The department runs continuously, and the expectation is that leadership presence matches that pace.

The compensation package is competitive and built to attract senior-level clinical talent. A negotiable sign-on bonus is on the table, and relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. The full benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer match, generous paid time off, health savings accounts, healthcare and dependent flexible spending accounts, continuing education support, career development resources, and an employee assistance program. This is a well-resourced system with real infrastructure behind it.

Candidates must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license or LCSW/LMSW licensure, current in the state of Michigan. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is required; a Master's in Nursing, Social Work, Business Administration, or Hospital Administration is preferred. Three to five years of acute hospital case management leadership experience is required, with five or more years preferred. McKesson InterQual experience is a strong differentiator, and an Accredited Case Manager (ACM) credential is preferred. Core competencies expected include medical necessity review, denial prevention, utilization management, InterQual IRR compliance, transition planning, payer relations, and physician education. Familiarity with Allscripts and Crimson is a plus.

Roles at this level and with this scope of authority move fast. If you have the credentials and the leadership track record to back them up, the next step is a five-minute call — no pressure, no lengthy intake form. Reach out now and let's have an honest conversation about whether this is the right move.

    Why Detroit?

Detroit has spent the last decade proving the skeptics wrong, and at this point, the city's comeback is less a story than a lived reality. Serious capital has flowed back into a downtown that now draws national attention for its food scene, arts infrastructure, and architectural character. The Detroit Institute of Arts, Orchestra Hall, and a restaurant culture that punches well above its weight give this city a texture that most mid-market healthcare destinations simply cannot match. For professionals relocating from high-cost metros, the math is compelling: more purchasing power, a dramatically lower cost of living, and a community that has been rebuilt with intention rather than inherited momentum. Director-level compensation goes considerably further here than it does on either coast, and that is not a small thing when you are building a life alongside a career.

Beyond the city itself, southeast Michigan puts everything within reach. Lake Erie and Lake Huron offer genuine weekend recreation, and the Upper Peninsula delivers some of the most striking wilderness in the Midwest for those who want to truly disconnect. Detroit Metro Airport provides regular direct service to Chicago, Toronto, New York, and beyond, so staying connected — personally and professionally — is never a friction point. The greater metro area is home to strong public and private school systems, a growing employer base across healthcare and technology, and neighborhoods with real character at every price point. For a healthcare leader ready to make a meaningful move without sacrificing quality of life, southeast Michigan is a destination worth taking seriously.
